The Internet-Essential Introduction to Computers
It was said that the Internet grew out of a project started in 1969 by the advanced research projects agency (ARPA) of the United States department of defense. The project, called ARPANet (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), developed a network that allowed scientific and military personnel to communicate and share data over large geographical area. But as time progresses this means of communication was made available to everyone within the reach of a computer.
The internet and the World Wide Web are related in many ways but there is a big difference which separates them, this is the mere fact that the internet is considered to be a network of networks, or in other words a networking infrastructure that connects millions of computers together globally, forming a network in which a computer can communicate with any other computer as long as they are both connected to the internet, while on the other hand, the World Wide Web is mainly a way of accessing information-sharing model that is build on top of the internet.
Beside from that the internet is very easy to access and also very easy to understand but in order to connect to the internet there are certain things which you need, these needs consist of; a modem, an ethemet Cable, and a high speed internet connection, the connection also can be set up by your cable company, Phone Company, or a private provider
There are many ways in which to grasp information from the internet but In order to find information using keywords you can use various search engines such as Google webpage, YouTube and Mozilla Firefox just to list a few
Ethical Behavior
The term ethics has several meanings but in common use, it refers to (a) a method of inquiry that helps people to understand the morality of human behavior (b) the practice of beliefs of a certain group and (c) the expected standard of a moral behavior of a particular group. But has it relates to computer on a whole, it is mainly about the up keep of the rules and regulation of the internet, if the rules are broken it is regarded has a form of ethical misbehavior.
Some ethical misbehaviors include software piracy this is the unauthorized copying, using or selling of software that is copyrighted. When an individual or a company buys a software package, the product comes with a license agreement that dictates the number of computers it can be used on, hacking is another which means unauthorized access to a computer system: the individual who commits the act is referred to as a hacker. Many hackers are young men who hack into systems just for the challenge or as a prank. Computer fraud is also considered has ethical misbehavior this occurs when a person in an organization (not a hacker) makes changes to information in a computer without authorization, for personal benefits or malicious reasons, while internet fraud occurs mainly in telemarketing-the buying and selling of products over the internet. Companies set up virtual shops/malls on web sites that users can access to view items on sale. And that’s just a small list of ethical misbehavior but there are other like computer theft, and identity theft.
Computers are also at risk from virus which have different effect dependent on the virus some of these includes Resident Viruses this type of virus is a permanent which dwells in the RAM memory. From there it can overcome and interrupt all of the operations executed by the system. Corrupting file and programs that are opened closed copied, renamed etc. Overwrite viruses is another but an infection of this kind is characterized by the fact that it deletes the information contained in the files that it infects, rendering them partially or totally useless once they have been infected. The only way to clean a file infected by an overwrite virus is to deletes the file completely, thus losing the original content example of this virus include: Way, Trj.Reboot, Trivial.88.D. but there are even more way to protect your computer from viruses example fast anti-virus and anti-spyware protection which detects, blocks, and removes viruses, spyware, adware and rootkits and also a Quick scan software lets you check for threats in the most commonly infected areas on the computer.
